'Ideas you can use' for international mapping and GIS community

1 April 2002

The Intergraph GeoSpatial Users Community (IGUC) has finalised plans for GeoSpatial World 2002, the IGUC International Training and Management Conference. The event will be held from 10-12 June, in Atlanta, Georgia.
GeoSpatial World 2002 brings together mapping and GIS specialists and industry colleagues from around the world to share and experience first-hand the real-world strategies and solutions presented at this event. 'Ideas you can use' will resonate throughout this year's conference during user presentations and technical sessions, workshop and training courses, networking opportunities, and conference exhibits. One of these user presentations will be by Sharthi Laldaparsad, Deputy Director: GIS at Statistics South Africa.
More than 190 technical sessions are organised into key tracks that include federal/national government solutions, local/regional government solutions, public works and utilities industry solutions, product and technology, transportation industry solutions, education, and management and strategic direction.
An online technical program www.intergraph. com/gis/community/geospatialworld/tp/</a> has been set up in order to allow attendees to search and analyse strategic addresses, technical sessions, workshops, and training courses - by technical track, day and time, session type, and keyword.
Sponsored by IGUC and Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions, GeoSpatial World is targeted at decision makers, managers, staff, and users who create or use geospatial information technology to meet needs in academia or in the public or private sector.
Optimal opportunities
Following the successful inaugural GeoSpatial World conference in 2001, GeoSpatial World 2002 has become a must-attend event that exploits new ideas and innovations for expanding the application of geospatial information.
Complementing the conference programme are these key activities:

Colloquium speakers will address LBS applications and technology advantages for enterprise and consumer markets. This programme is co-sponsored by IntelliWhere, a division of Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions.
* Presentations on-the-fly - Attendees can share demos, hot fixes, or creative uses of an application or software during 15-minute presentations.
* Ask the experts - This popular programme enables attendees to meet one-on-one with Intergraph support and training team members to discuss products and various topics.
* Products, Projects and solutions exhibit - Conferees can meet with company representatives and industry organisations that serve the mapping and GIS community to learn how to make day-to-day operations more productive.
