Graficomp, Randburg-based suppliers of Hewlett-Packard large format printers and plotters were awarded the contract to supply Cell C with three HP DesignJet 5000 42" large format printers.

The Cape and Durban branches of Cell C are each receiving the DesignJet 5000 42" which is able to print A1 size in 36 seconds. The high printing speeds are the result of HP's JetExpress technology with a 25 mm wide printhead. High-quality photos are achieved using HP colour layering technology, six ink colours (CMYKcm) and 1200 dpi resolution.

The Johannesburg Branch received the DesignJet 5000 ps 42". Lionel Chetty of Cell C was very impressed with the level of service received from Graficomp when they purchased their first HP 5000 last year, therefore, when they required three more printers they automatically turned to Graficomp. The HP DesignJet 5000ps 42" will be used for network planning from a Unix platform. Maps will be printed detailing Cell C coverage. Chetty said, "We never considered any other make of printer as the HP was ideal for our specific needs and no other printer could match the price, quality and service of the hp DJ 5000."
