Themes and Schemes in the Nigerian capital, Lagos, has acquired a NovaJet Encad 750 60" from South African imaging solutions company First Graphics.
Owner Sam Folarin says his business, which employs 40 people, is involved in printing, graphic design and image scanning. The Encad was installed in January 2002. Folarin says he bought the Encad because First Graphics was recommended to him and responded very promptly to his first enquiries. He says: "Imaging scanning and printing in general is growing steadily in Nigeria in response to the improved quality of the technology available. It is my first wide format digital printer and the Encad is helping my business beautifully! Of course, the improved quality of our services normally advertises itself and consequently begets new clients."
Folarin describes Nigeria, overall, as being "a big market with a lot of potential. It is pro-active regarding business and with a pro-Western ideology. A high unemployment rate, however, retards its growth. The country is politically stable - we are in our third year of democratic government - but economically flagging. There are a number of languages spoken here, with three major languages operating. We also have a large foreign contingent. Our main exports are oil, gas and agricultural produce. Regarding available technology and infrastructure, our knowledge and application technology is relatively high but largely dependent on imported origination."
