Information communications and technology (ICT) solutions group, Ikwezi Group Holdings, has announced that it will henceforth be known as the Matomo Group. According to Thozamile Botha, group executive chairman of the Matomo Group, the need for a more distinctive name was evident.

Says Botha: "As the biggest black empowerment group within the local ICT sector, we wanted to reflect our dynamic character and further set the group apart from other companies by the name of Ikwezi. Naturally we had to select a name that would be suitable for local and international business operations."

Botha emphasises that the re-branding will have no impact on the current management structure of the group, saying that past successes have proven the strength of its current team. He adds that Matomo aims to grow its business into a R1,6 bn operation within the next five years. "Thus re-branding is but one of the building blocks we need to put in place for us to reach our goal."

To further streamline operations, the Matomo Group will now be operating from its Midrand head office. Highlighting the need to consolidate operations, Botha believes that the group will benefit from the close proximity of its subsidiaries.
