Telemorphic wins User Conference award

1 February 2003

Telemorphic, a specialist in Internet GIS and geographic imaging products and services, was recently awarded 'Best Internet Application' during the 2002 ESRI International User Conference. The company also received the top honours for 'Most Unique' map during the conference's map gallery, an exposition of over 1000 of the most effective maps created by GIS and mapping professionals from around the world.
Telemorphic received the top Internet application honour during the conference's Software Applications Fair for the David Rumsey Collection GIS Viewer. Built with the company's Java-based MaplicityT technology, the Rumsey Collection GIS Viewer adds interactive GIS and image processing/visualisation tools, delivered with the Rumsey Collection's rich historical map content, to an unlimited number of Web browser-based users. The standard Maplicity product includes two lightweight Java applet viewers that extend interactive client-side GIS functionality, along with geographic imaging and visualisation tools, to any Internet GIS deployment that uses ESRI's ArcIMS product.
To create the winning Rumsey Collection GIS Viewer, the company customised Maplicity so as to include the QuadViewer feature to support multiple map views (image and/or vector layers) displayed simultaneously in a linked viewer environment. The David Rumsey Collection GIS Viewer may be accessed at www.davidrumsey.com/gis. The award for 'Most Unique' map was received for the Lewis and Clark Expedition 200th Anniversary Mosaic, a collage of historical maps and modern geospatial data representing nearly two centuries of cartographic history which encompasses the route of the explorers' epic journey.
