Local solution provider scoops international awards

1 July 2001

Local spatial solution provider, MunSys Technologies won 'Best GIS Marketing Event' for its MunSys Roadshow at the recent Autodesk GIS Bootcamp held in Sitges, Spain in March this year. Presented at a gala evening during the Bootcamp conference, the awards are conceived as a means of recognising exceptional achievements in the field of GIS by Autodesk partners.
The Spanish Bootcamp was for the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions comprising eight territories including South Africa. MunSys also won a second award for 'Most Innovative AutoCAD Map Application'.

Based on proven Oracle and Autodesk technologies, MunSys is a locally developed, database-driven, spatial management tool tailored specifically to meet the growing needs of local government and utilities. Fast and very user-friendly, the MunSys suite of spatial software applications has successfully been used by a number of municipalities for over six years supported by a dedicated in-house team. The MunSys Roadshow, which took place in August last year, was a combined effort between MunSys Technologies, Autodesk and Oracle, aimed at increasing awareness of the MunSys solution within local government circles countrywide.
"We received very positive feedback from roadshow delegates including many who said it was the best GIS event they had ever attended. The publicity has also paid off longer term with regard to a much greater awareness within local government about the benefits of MunSys and its unique capabilities as a complete spatial data solution," said MunSys Technologies MD, Chris Tolken.
"We were really pleased to win the award and certainly could not have done it without the incredible support and hard work of our technology partners, Autodesk and Oracle," he added. Roadshow seminars and demonstrations took place in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
