New industry product targets public works and land management markets

1 August 2001

Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions and Hansen Information Technologies have announced the GeoMedia-Hansen Interface, designed to enhance infrastructure management productivity. Intergraph Corporation is locally represented by Intergraph Systems Southern Africa and the local distributor for Hansen is Lerechabetse Technologies.
Targeted at asset management and permitting needs in the public works and land management markets, this new interface helps simplify an organisation's workflow by making all native GeoMedia and Hansen V7.5 functions available from either product - regardless of which application is open on the user's desktop. The interface provides a seamless, fully bi-directional solution for managing both the attribute and spatial components of water, wastewater, and storm water systems, as well as properties and other municipal assets. For example, users can relate the tabular definition of a water valve in their Hansen system to its graphic definition in GeoMedia.
Key features of the new interface include:
* Seamless integration - users can easily conduct tabular queries within the Hansen application and display those results graphically within GeoMedia or GeoMedia Professional, and vice-versa.
* ActiveX/COM technology - the interface's implementation of Microsoft's ActiveX/COM, a stable and robust application integration technology, enables users to safely and quickly relate common infrastructure assets between GeoMedia and Hansen V7.5
* Interface configuration manager - A graphical configuration manager enables users to modify and control the behaviour of the interface, including the content of the map and features display, buffer zone size, and mapview scale.
"Our teaming with Hansen further supports our strategy to deliver high-quality industry solutions to the public works and land management markets," said Rex van Olst, MD of Intergraph Systems Southern Africa. "We are pleased to bring this intuitive, flexible interface product to our mutual customers."
In addition, the GeoMedia-Hansen Interface is a complementary industry product to Intergraph's newly announced GeoMedia PublicWorks industry product.
Toney Casey, CEO of Lerechabetse Technologies, the distributor for Hansen Information Technologies in South Africa, comments, "Our customers have eagerly awaited the delivery of this functionality. The GeoMedia-Hansen Interface is a tool that provides significant savings of both time and effort, thus increasing our customer's ability to access related spatial and tabular data in an efficient and accurate manner."
