AfriGIS expands its multidisciplinary portfolio

1 November 2001

Geographical Information System (GIS) solution provider, AfriGIS, is extending its multi-disciplinary portfolio with the launch of its Customer Support Centre and two newly established sister companies e-Logics and AfriGIS Environmental Solutions. The company also recently introduced its GIS4managers training course and launched its newly upgraded website.
"Along with the growth of the company, some diversification has taken place to ensure client satisfaction by providing a total focussed solution," says Magnus Rademeyer, Managing Director of AfriGIS.
"We decided to implement these new facilities, owing to our rapidly growing client base," he notes. "We aim to provide indispensable assistance within our after sales Support Centre - advising customers, and just being there whenever they need a helping hand." The Support Centre can be reached at 0860 999897 or support@afrigis.co.za.
"e-Logics' mission is to provide comprehensive solutions to its customers through addressing key supply chain issues and developing appropriate strategies to improve supply chain performance, reduce working capital and operational costs," Rademeyer continues. "This is achieved through the application of a scientific approach to supply chain problems to facilitate the development of effective IT solutions to execute the strategies."
AfriGIS Environmental Solutions is a company with expertise in both natural sciences and GIS technology. "Its goal is to provide solutions that promote long-term sustainable land resource management."
Rademeyer explains. "Efforts are specifically aimed towards the development, promotion and maintenance of an integrated and reliable planning infrastructure that provides support at various levels of decision-making and ensures cost-effective long-term system sustainability.
"As the value of GIS or as we like to call it spatial information becomes increasingly evident, the responsibility for using spatial information is moving away from the technical expert and towards senior management," Rademeyer says. "Today's IT managers are expected to develop a complete GIS rollout plan, while GIS professionals are required to devise ways to use GIS profitably in the business sector."
He points out that the GIS4managers course is geared to address these demands by providing a nontechnical introduction to GIS technology.
"The course is geared to educate today's managers on GIS technology and the benefits surrounding the use of spatial information in the organisation."
According to Rademeyer, the Internet has become crucial for targeting those companies that need information on spatial solutions and utilising technologies such as GIS. "The new website, www.afrigis.co.za, is very user-friendly, with easy links to our services, business units, press releases and news archive."
He concludes: "AfriGIS has taken significant steps towards offering comprehensive solutions to clients seeking the excellent service and relentless problem-solving efforts we are known for. The new sister companies and customer support centre will enable us to provide a significantly enhanced service to our clients."
