Intergraph announces GeoMedia 5.0

1 June 2002

Intergraph will be launching GeoMedia Version 5.0 at GeoSpatial World 2002 which will take place from 10 to 12 June.
Some of the features include:
* Data servers: GeoMedia 5.0 supports the latest versions of all delivered data servers, such as MapInfo 6.5, Oracle9i, and AutoCAD 2002. The new Text File data server generates GeoMedia features from text files and enables common GPS formats to be read.
* Support for Oracle 9i: The GeoMedia 5.0 product suite runs with the Standard Edition of Oracle, which includes enhanced inter Media Locator functions. The Oracle 9i Standard Edition includes all the capabilities required by GeoMedia.
* Presentation: The new text placement techniques include curved text, auto-orientation of text to a feature, dynamic leader lines, style overrides that allow one to change the style of a piece of text without creating a new legend entry, user-defined line styles, and conflict resolution capabilities.
* Buffer zones: Improvements and enhancements to the buffer zone system include support for variable-width buffer zones and the ability to output to query for dynamic analysis with auto update. For example, a change in the size of the buffer zone automatically updates any analysis that is dependent on the zone size.
* Analytical merge: This new capability merges features based on common attributes and spatial adjacency and is a dynamic operation that can be easily updated or can be just part of an analysis pipeline.
